In this class, we’ll continue developing and improving our screenwriting skills. We’ll study the act structure and placement of key story points; write some short scenes; practice writing a treatment; and study a popular approach to plotting that most screenwriters use to craft powerful and salable screenplays.

Students should already know how to format screenplays and write in the tight, concise style used in writing for film. If you’re new to screenwriting, take Screenwriting 101 first.

Nils Osmar, instructor

The Hero's Journey story template has been used in movies as diverse as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Wizard of Oz and American Beauty.
