Class 174614-6-16-19:
Acting Intensive: Meet the Family
Dates and times will be set soon
University of Washington campus
Max. enrollment: 12. Enrolled so far:

“MOM COMES TO VISIT”

In this class, we’ll workshop and then perform a short script based around a family reunion.  A Favorite Son is getting married. His siblings, who have fled across the country to avoid dealing with each other, are confronted with having to room together; having to deal with with the weirdness of the wedding; and coping somehow with their somewhat lunatic mother. Mom’s mad because the attention is on the marrying couple, not on her. The reunion is chaotic; the wedding is crazier.

Students will be given scenes to memorize, workshop and perform in the class, doing exercises to connect with the truth of your character. The final performances will be filmed, then we’ll watch them in class and study what worked, what didn’t, and how to sharpen and improve our work as actors.

This class can be taken on its own, or as part of our Acting Fundamentals Certificate Program.  Instructor: Nils Osmar

Student comments about this class:

Beginning Acting was fun; Intermediate Acting was where the real work started. The instructor worked hard to give students a solid foundation in pursuing their goals in the field. I highly recommend this class. – A.M., Seattle

I loved the first meeting… I feel like I finally understand the idea of ‘objective’ in a way I can actually use. When it clicked it was like a light going on. I don’t need to plan the emotions at all, just find who my character is and what she wants. Everything falls into place. Yay! Great class, Nils! – Mary R., Bellevue
