Musical Theater: Performance Showcase

University of Washington campus - Seattle
Max. enrollment: 12. Enrolled so far: 1

What is a “Triple Threat” in the musical theater world? It refers to a performer who can sing, dance, and act. These are usually the people who get the lead roles in a musical. However, it helps to be at least somewhat familiar with all three in order to get into the ensemble.

Participants in the Musical Theater: Performance Showcase class will be able to take what they learned in previous classes and put it all together into a group musical number. There will also be an opportunity to choose a song to perform as a solo or duet, if desired. We will work together to learn the music, develop the characters, and create the choreography. The final class will be a special showcase for select family and friends, to show off everything you have learned.

While participants are not expected to be experienced actors, singers, or dancers, Musical Theater: Performance Showcase will be most beneficial to people with some knowledge of all three disciplines. Please consider taking the three courses that lead up to this: (Singing for Beginners, Moving to the Music, and Acting in Musicals). If you’re already a “singer who dances” or an “actor who sings” or any combination of the three disciplines, feel free to try out this class. We would love to have you!

It takes a great deal of practice to make it in musical theater, but this is a great first step. Get ready to shine!

Please bring $25 to the first class, to be paid to the instructor. This fee will go toward paying the pianist.
