PROPORTIONAL GUIDELINES – TRY COPYING THESE SKETCHES:
This week’s assignment is to try drawing some figures like the ones we drew in class (starting from “stick figures” then building out the cylinders to make them more complete… then set up a light source and see if you can figure out where the shadows would go. (They are always on the opposite side from the light.)
For example, in this drawing I have the light from above, so the ovals and cylinders comprising the body are shaded on the underside:

Remember that they’re based on forms found in the human skeleton. The upper oval is the rib cage; the lower oval is the pelvic bone area.
