CARTOONING 101 – 4 WEEK CLASS 

Looking for a fun introductory Seattle Cartooning class? In this four-week class, aimed at beginners but open to all levels, you’ll learn how to create your own cartoon characters and show them in action, even if you’ve never drawn before. Plus, how to finish your cartoons in ink, how to draw human and animal characters, how to draw characters from multiple angles, facial expressions, characters in action, tips for drawing cartoon backgrounds, and how to get published.

DRAWING COMICS and GRAPHIC NOVELS 

In this class, open to everyone, students will start out by learning how to draw realistically proportioned adult human figures in a simplified comic book style, then learn how to show them in action. You’ll learn about page layout and design, as they relate to comics and graphic novels; composition and visual continuities; how to tell a story with pictures; and how to engage the reader and move your story along.

About Nils Osmar

Nils Osmar was born in Alaska, and grew up in a wilderness area on the southern coast. He now lives in Seattle. He has made his living in the arts for over thirty years, working as a writer, visual artist, teacher, and filmmaker. He currently teaches through the University of Washington's ASUW Experimental College. He is the Director of an independent educational program, Classesandworkshops.com, which offers courses in visual, written and performing arts in Seattle, Washington.
