SEATTLE CARTOONING CLASSES

  • We offer two different CARTOONING CLASSES each quarter: CARTOONING 101 (which teaches a humorous “Sunday Funnies style) and DRAWING COMIC BOOKS AND GRAPHIC NOVELS.
  • We also offer several classes of special interest to cartoonists, including DRAWING PEOPLE, DRAWING IN INK, and DRAWING IN PERSPECTIVE.
  • We sometimes also offering CARTOONING 101 as a one-day workshop.)\
  • More than half of our classes meet on the UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON CAMPUS in Seattle. Other locations include community centers in the greater Seattle area.

CARTOONING 101 ⟾ starts 7/21 (Saturdays)

In this fun and focused class, you’ll learn how to create your own cartoon characters and show them in action, then finish them in india ink — even if you’ve never drawn before. You can bring your own materials, or buy a materials kit using the link below.

DRAWING COMIC BOOKS and GRAPHIC NOVELS ⟾ meets on Sunday August 19

In this intensive step-by-step class, students will learn how to draw comic book pages and panels, draw simplified figures, and show them in action. You’ll learn about page layout and design; how to draw comic book pages in pencil, then finish them in ink; and how to tell stories effectively with images.  Note: You can either bring your own materials, or buy a materials kit and pick it up in the first class meeting.
