ACTING 101 – SUNDAY CLASS – SEATTLE

In this enjoyable four week class, you’ll learn how to create characters, memorize dialogue, and use your voice, body and emotions as acting tools. Plus, you’ll learn an easy method of memorizing dialogue. Whether you’re looking for a class just for fun, or have aspirations to act in movies or on stage, everyone is welcome. This class can be taken by itself, or applied toward our Certificate Program in Acting

In this fun 4-week EAST SIDE ACTING CLASS, you’ll learn how to create characters, memorize dialogue, and perform short scenes. Whether you’re looking for a class just for fun, or have aspirations to some day act in movies or on stage, all levels are welcome. You can take this class by itself, or as part of our Certificate Program in Acting Fundamentals. The instructor is an independent film festival whose movies have played in major film festivals. This class can be taken by itself, or applied toward our Certificate Program in Acting

ACTING WITH EMOTION 1

In ACTING WITH EMOTION 1, we’ll do some  improv, group exercises and scene work exploring a range of emotions, including anger, fear, love,  aggression, apology, happiness, sadness and more, focusing on expanding our range as actors and moving beyond the pretense of emotion. This is NOT a beginning level class; you should have taken Acting 101 and Acting 102, or similar classes, first. ACTING WITH EMOTION 2

In ACTING WITH EMOTION 2 – INTERMEDIATE LEVEL, we’ll continue working on freeing up and expressing emotions, with a special focus on improving our ability to listen and respond to our scene partners, and learning how to make quick, intuitive choices based on the reality of what our characters are confronting or moving toward in their scenes.  This class can be taken by itself, or applied toward our Certificate Program in Acting


ACTING FOR THE CAMERA

On-camera acting is different from acting on stage.  In this class, students will learn how to give their best and most effective performances when being filmed; how to walk to a mark without looking at it; how to make the camera their scene partner; and how to make their performance larger or smaller, while staying true to your character and his or her motivation. This class can be taken by itself, or applied toward our Certificate Program in Acting

LET’S MAKE A MOVIE

Ever dreamed about acting in a movie, or making a movie of your own?  In this fun, hands-on course, we’ll create and film a short independent movie from scratch. You can participate as an actor, member of the crew, or both.  It’s an acting class, a filmmaking class, and an involving, immersive experience. A fun way to learn how movies are made by actually helping to make one, and a good way for actors to get material for their reels. This class can be taken by itself, or applied toward our Certificate Program in Acting

Nils Osmar was born in Alaska, and grew up in a wilderness area on the southern coast. He now lives in Seattle. He has made his living in the arts for over thirty years, working as a writer, visual artist, teacher, and filmmaker. He currently teaches through the University of Washington's ASUW Experimental College. He is the Director of an independent educational program, Classesandworkshops.com, which offers courses in visual, written and performing arts in Seattle, Washington.
