Frequently asked
questions, policies and procedures
What is Classesandworkshops.com?
Classesandworkshops.com is an independent educational
program featuring classes in drawing and painting, writing, acting,
filmmaking and other "classes in the arts." We sponsor
some classes independently, and co-sponsor some with other programs
in the Seattle area. We handle registrations for all of the classes
listed on the Classesandworkshops.com home page.
How do students sign
up?
You can sign up
online, by calling 206-420-1309, or
by email. See How
to sign up
How
soon will I receive a confirmation, after signing up?
You should receive
a confirmation by email within 24 hours of registering.
If you don't get a confirming email, please check in your spam
folder. The confirmations are sent by bulk email so they sometimes
end up there. If its not there, call 206-420-1309 or drop us an
email and we'll resend it. When you
receive your confirmation, please hit "reply" to let
us know you received it, so we'll know the email communications
are working both ways.
Are
your courses offered online, or do they meet in an actual classroom?
The "dot com" in our name understandably confuses some
folks! But our classes are in-person. They meet in classrooms
in Seattle, Washington. We may someday set up online classes,
but we don't have any at the moment.
Are
your classes accredited?
No, they're for personal enrichment and skill development. The
focus is on learning, having fun, and developing new skills, not
on grading. Some classes do offer a certificate of completion.
(Email us for details)
Where
are your classes held?
Most of them are held on the University of Washington campus in Seattle, Washington. (located about
five minutes by freeway from downtown Seattle) (A few are off-campus,
a few blocks from the UW) The exact location (building and room
number) and driving directions will be sent by email when you
sign up.
Do you
have to be a UW student to sign up? Or are the classes open to
everyone?
They are open
to everyone 18 or older. You do not have to be a UW student to
enroll in our classes. (Some classes are open to students under
18 with parental permission.) Parents should call us to talk about
the student and the class and make sure they're a match before
signing a younger student up)
How old are the
students in the classes?
It's different every quarter, because anyone over 18 can sign
up. But the ages tend to range from as young as 18 years old,
up to past retirement age. (If a student is under 18, the parent
or guardian should contact us before signing them up to make sure
the class is a good match for the young student's needs.) To check
on a specific class, call 206-420-1309 or email. But bear in mind that the classes
are primarily aimed at and designed for adults.
Why
is there both a course fee and a registration fee?
Such fees are standard for schools of all sorts, and cover different
costs. The course fee covers the cost of tuition (which
goes to pay the instructor's salary, room rental and equipment
costs, etc.) The registration fee covers office costs involved
in processing your enrollment. The course fee is refundable
under some circumstances; the registration fee in not refundable
unless your class is either canceled, or the dates or times are
changed in a way that makes you unable to attend.
What
is your refund policy?
Please click
here for information
about refunds.
How
can I make sure that a class still has openings?
If a class is full, it will be deleted from our web main page
and marked FULL on the Registration
page. If you don't
see the word FULL by the course title, it still has openings.
