CLASS 320: Documentary Filmmaking class

COURSE DESCRIPTION: You don't need a fancy camera or a lot of money to make a documentary. You just need a camcorder, a microphone, a computer for editing, and knowledge of how to go about it. In this class you'll learn how to plan and organize your documentary; how to set up and film interviews; how to get good audio and lighting under field conditions.  Students will get experience thinking up interview questions and filming an actual interview in class. Plus, tips about film festivals and distribution.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Nils Osmar has made his living in the arts since the 1980s, and has taught both accredited and non-accredited classes in Seattle for over twenty years, through the University of Washington's ASUW Experimental College, Antioch University's Heritage Institute, Shoreline Community College, the Wonder School, and Classesandworkshops.com. He has worked on shorts, narrative features and documentaries. He began making movies in 2001. He has taught filmmaking classes in Seattle since 2003.
